The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) promotes firearms safety training and rifle practice for all qualified U.S.. citizens with special emphasis on youth. Langhorne Rod and Gun Club is affiliated with the CMP, and offers an opportunity for training and competition.

The CMP was created by the U.S. Congress. The original purpose was to provide civilians an opportunity to learn and practice marksmanship skills so they would be skilled marksmen if later called on to serve the U.S. military. Over the years the emphasis of the program shifted to focus on youth development through marksmanship.

The CMP program at LRGC is primarily a “Hi– Power” Rifle program, providing an opportunity to practice the “Rifle National Match Course” of fire on the third Sunday of each month. A $5.00 Fee applies.
The Club has M1 Garands (.30-06) for use ( a nominal fee is requested for ammunition) and AR-15’s (Semi automatic only M-16 type rifle, .223) or M1 Carbines (.30 carbine) for juveniles or handicapped individuals.
You will find individual shooters using the above firearms, plus Springfield 1903’s, M1A’s (M14 semiauto only), and even some SKS or AK-47’s. IRON SIGHTS ONLY!
